I am new to the dna part of genealogy and freely admit my ignorance and desire to learn. I uploaded my ancestry raw dna to both gedmatch.com and promethease and should have my 23andme data soon and hope to upload them also. Two questions today: 1. Can I find my haplogroup either place? Or must I have a male family member take the test and assume we two share the exact same haplogroup? 2. Will either the ancestry or 23andme tests indicate whether a dna "match" is found on maternal or paternal line? If not are there other 3rd party angels out there who have written software that can do this? (By the way, many many thanks to all the volunteers working so hard on all this material. Gedmatch and Promethease and anyone else--you rock.)
