I read (here? on a blog? on FB? in the sky? can't remember!) that FTDNA had 120 transfers on their first day of the transfer sale (aka the first day to accept AncestryDNA transfers). I transferred my grandmother's data around the same time that I read that. Her kit number is B4543. Just a bit ago (six days later), I transferred my Mom's data; she's B4956.
Do you think that means there were 413 transfers over the past six days? (+120 for a total-ish of 533?) Can anyone report on getting a transfer kit number that would lead you to believe that they *aren't* assigned in consecutive order?
(My transfer kit number -from early November- is B3369, if anyone is keeping score.)
I ended up buying three transfers this week, despite very mediocre experiences with my two tests already at FTDNA, partially in the hope that this would cause the genealogy gods to say "let's mess with her and have Ancestry unveil a chromosome browser next week." ;) (And partially because I'm just that pitifully desperate to have every scrap of possible info. In about ten days it will be the anniversary of my first time to drool in a tube - my oh MY how my genealogical life has changed since then!)
If trying to fake-out the universe doesn't work, well, I hope some of the people who paid for transfers match one of my kits. They're probably the kind who are more likely to at least put *something* in their profiles... grumble grumble.
