I think the number of matches depends entirely on the number of your relatives who have taken the test via ancestry.com. So if you have relatives in the states who have taken the test via ancestry, you should see them. Once it opens up to the rest of the world, you will see matches by your off-continental relatives who take the test.
For me, the test took about a week to arrive after I ordered it -- maybe a little longer;
The acknowledgement of receipt came one week after I dropped it in the mail (mailed on a Tuesday, notice of receipt the following Tuesday).
I received notification that my results were back 12 days after that (on a Sunday).
