I don't know if your matches would object to your proposed action but in an abundance of caution you could always advise them about the surname board and ask them to participate in it themselves.

I have personally joined a few surname groups based upon my autosomal results but in most cases doing so hasn't been of much benefit since surname groups are usually more concerned with the results of Y-DNA testing than autosomal test results.
