To continue a topic from the match numbers thread, what are the criteria for determining whether or not a match using the gedmatch comparison tool is legit? Is matching on a ton of small (3-4 cM) segments more meaningful than matching on a single 13cM segment or 2 6cM segments? How much is considered "proof", or can you even use that word? From everything I've read it appears people are pretty much "eyeballing" this to determine the significance of a match.

For those of you who have been using gedmatch for a while, what guidelines have you found that you can correlate with your paper trail? Once you get past close relatives, do you really need 3 people to conclude anything?
