The main problem with going back and giving those a second look is that there are always new matches coming down the pike that need my attention, leaving me little time to go back and review those that I might have initially discarded.

On those occasions when I have found time to review those discards, I have found several instances where formerly private trees have been changed to public trees, so periodically reviewing one's discards does have some value. In addition after seeing some of the same surnames popping up again and again in your matches starts you wondering how many of your discards contained those same surnames that were not initially flagged for further research.
