Pre-1906 Birth Records
Most City records and indexes were destroyed,

BUT
If you thought it was hopeless, don't give up quite yet! While a good majority of San Francisco's Vital Records were destroyed in the earthquake and fire of 1906, not all of them were lost.

Those that did survive were filmed by LDS. Microfilm copies are available through LDS Family History Centers.

Many are also available at the San Francisco Main Library History Center, Sutro Library, and at the California Genealogical Society Library.
