On Jan. 26, 2004, the last living survivor of the GS disaster, Adella (Liebenow) Wotherspoon, passed away at age 100. Fiesty to the end, she had planned and enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration in November 2003, and intended to attend all the various centennial events this coming June. She survived the disaster as a baby and in 1905 was choosen, at the ripe old age of 18 months, to pull the cord that unveiled the monument to the victims in Lutheran Cemetery, Queens, New York. The New York Times carried an extensive article on her and the disaster Feb. 4th, 2004. Her death came just four months after that of Catherine (Gallagher) Connelly at age 100++ She was also a young passenger, but about 8-10 years old in 1904. she passed in Oct. 2003.
