Each year the descendants of the General Slocum host two memorials. This year they will fall on June 14 and 15 (day of the disaster).
June 14- will be in Queens, NY with a service at the Lutheran Church and then a short dedication a the monument to the victims, in Lutheran Cemetery.
June 15- there will be a memorial at Tompkins Square Park, Manhattan, which is where the children of the German neighborhood played. There used to be a fountain and plaque dedicated to them, but now only a plaque remains.
both of these are free events and a great way to meet other descendants and researchers to exchange information. Hope to see you there!
