Finding an old death record without a date

Classification: Query
Surnames: Storie, Johnson
I am in search of an old death record. However, I do not have a date, not even a general idea.
My great grandmother (Elizabeth Storie, nee Johnson) was born in February 1882 in Ontario, Canada, is shown on the 1890 and 1900 censuses for Canada, married in 1903 to Elmer Royal Storie, had 5 children: Floyd, Clifford, Merrill, Fern and Anita. She is in the Watertown, NY census for 1910 with her family, and in 1920 by herself as a lodger in Watertown. She and Elmer divorced in 1925, and after that she disappears. The family has always said she just disappeared one day. In all my years of searching, I cannot find her past 1925.
I know there must be a death record for her somewhere, but need some fresh ideas on where and how to look. Next week, I will be going to Watertown to the historical societies there to see if they can help me out. I will also be hopefully applying for a copy of their divorce decree. And, trying to see if I can immigration records for Elizabeth.
At this point, I am thinking I may have to hire someone to help me.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?!!!
Thanks in advance
