Relatives have documented your Owings line at this website:

Our ancestor, Capt. Richard Owings, was a Welsh immigrant who settled in Maryland in the late 17th Century. Virtually all Americans with the surname Owings (using that exact spelling) are descended from Capt. Richard Owings and his wife Rachel.

I could have wrote that a few years ago. We have no firm facts of the origins of Capt. Richard Owen/Owings and Rachel Robert although lore and some data strongly suggest that as a leading possibility. My Y DNA show that we are Scots. Further DNA shows we lived along the Irish Sea. David

What is your Owings line? My is Capt. Richard, Joshua, Richard, Joshua, Richard, Joshua, Francis Marion, Auddie Joshua. After they left Maryland they came to Kentucky "Owingsville" and finally western Missouri. Joshua and his son Andrew "Andy" Peden Owings are confirmed Quantrill and probably include more kith and kin.
