Hi There ... I just purchased the frock coat of James Millikin who joined Quantrill at age 14. Does anyone have any information on James Millikin. Where can I get a list of all of Quantrills Company?
Thanks.

Hi.
Did you ever find out more about the coat? If you are still interested I have access to some records from Millikin's family. My email is luxor@comcast.net

I went and looked at that frock coat many times, and would loved to have had it... but, glad you were able to get the bid. I do research for East Carroll Parish, La., where the Millikins lived. There is a story in the book "Three Roads to the Alamo", about how Millikins acquired their land. If you go here
http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/newspapers/

and find the Louisiana papers and then "Banner Democrat", you can probably find a lot on James Millikin here.... . Is there anything specific you are looking for?

Also, if you put in a search on google for Quantrill Raiders Millikin, you should find a few pics of his family on a descendeants page.......

Jim Bowie's family lived in this area too. Cole Younger mentions in his book he stayed in the Bass Plantation which was in the town of Lake Providence also. Lots of history from this area.

Let me know if you need any help.
