I know from experience, that there are people who are placed in prison every day,who do not have the money to fight their case properly,& therefore, fall between the cracks in the system. People can only imagine the horrors that face those who go inside prison walls. Imagine life where you are valued no more than a pack of cigarettes. Where people are bullied by staff & inmates constantly. Your mail is read to you, you eat garbage several times a day, there is one community tv set,you have to depend on relatives to send money for better food at the commissary, the lawyer & all who visit, are subject to search, your room has a metal cot for two and a steel toilet, you go to school, church, work assignments, all within those walls. Any crime nowadays, could lead to wrongful convictions, because law enforcement gets the catch somebody syndrome. You are transported in armored vehicles, wearing chains, with armed guards ready to blow the one away who tries to escape. Nobody wants to hear you didn't do the crime(s) you were accused of,nobody wants to hear how you are changing, sometimes for the worst,& unless you can get a pardon, the rest of your life you are known as having gone behind those walls. It is so hard for people to imagine that there are those who have been put through this living hell, wrongfully accused, wanting true justice. I hope as we study the subject of convicts, that we explore how many went behind those terrible walls wrongfully,& some day,to clear their names.
