Re: Judge James Lowrey, VA early 1600s
It is rather confusing. But here is what I have so far:
My great grandfather (Wiley Oxendine) had a father named James Lowery according to court records. A warrant filed by Wiley's mother Lucy charging James as father. I also have Wiley's marriage license naming James as his father.
Later I find information that this same James had a lot of other children with different women.
I just came across some notes that James Lowery had a child with Sarah and his name is Daniel. Is this your Daniel?
In some other notes that I have possibly this same James has brothers and sisters named William, Thomas, Mary and Ceily. Their father is listed as another James Lowery in which he claims to be the son of Judge Lowry of Virginia.
I have found numerous James Lowery's. They all seem to be the same.
James Lowery Judge of Virginia had three sons. Two of the sons moved to Ohio and Pennsylania. The third son, also named James moved to southern Va. Some other notes about James Lowery Jr. being a sheriff in his fathers court. James Lowery Jr. moved from Virginia to Robeson County, NC.
Thanks

Re: Judge James Lowrey, VA early 1600s
I am a direct granddaughter of James Lowery who married Sarah Kearsey. Their son William had a son Allen who had a son Calvin who had a son William Mitchell (Billy) who had a son William Henry (my father). I would love to know the documentation in reference to James (judge) and his son James who supposedly came to Robeson County. I cannot find anything about Judge James Lowrey and his spouse (mistress, slave, servant?) Priscillah Berry who is said to be the mother to James of Robeson County. I have seen it written that there was a land grant to Lowrey and a Henry Berry in 1732 that is said to be documented. I cannot find info on Berry. Whatever you have would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: Judge James Lowrey, VA early 1600s
lumbeelady, if you are are still online I would like to talk to you about the Lowrey and O'Berry connections of early Bladen (Robeson) County, North Carolina. I am a distant relative of Henry O'Berry, one of the first settlers of what is now Robeson County. He was a native of Southampton County, Virginia. He migrated to North Carolina and was living on Raft Swamp in the early 1730s. I have heard that he raised the grandson of James Lowrey. I would like to swap what little information I have. Danny
