I know it has been a long time since we talked about my grandmother. Thank you for the info. The last time we emailed a few weeks later I actually went to Burnwell, KY where my mom was raised and met a relative, and he showed us the cemetary where Ray and Irene were laid to rest. I was only there less than 24 hours, but had a great time. There is something about that place that draws me there. I found out that I had missed the McCoy/Hatfield Reunion by a few weeks so I was determined to go one day. Two years later-just this june I visited my dad in Tenn and went to the reunion (by myself). Had a great time, but had a hard time getting there and had to cut the time short. I am planning to attend next year and I met some wonderful relatives there in Burnwell. I need to ask some questions about Irene's side of the family. Where did John Stafford come from and who were his parents? Do you know what happened to Lewis McCoy's first wife Afton Short who was my grandfather Ray's biological mother? I have heard a few different stories about her, but nobody wants to talk about it.
