I am a researcher of the McCutcheon family. In 1897, Valentine Hatfield married Ida McCutcheon in Crawford County, Indiana. Crawford County is on the Ohio River a little West of Louisville, KY. Valentine and Ida had a child in 1900 in Washington County, Indiana, Northwest of Crawford County. That is the last information I have found concerning the family. Because of the first name, Valentine, and the Hatfield, name, I thought there might be a good chance that he is a member of the famous Hatfield family of the “Hatfields and McCoys.” This Valentine Hatfield would probably have been born circa 1860 to 1875, his wife, Ida, was born in 1873. These counties in Indiana are very close to the Kentucky border.

Dear Marie

My Valentine Hatfield married my Grandfather's Sister, Ida McCutcheon, in Crawford County, Indiana in 1897. They moved to Washington County, Indiana and had three son, Lawrence, Russell and Harold all born circa 1900. In the 1920 census they appear living in Newport News, Virginia. I have no later information on the family.

There were several Hatfield families living in Crawford County, Indiana and I am assuming he is one of their family. However, right now I am not sure who his father was. I believe Valentine was born around circa 1870. The reason I became interested in the Hatfield family of the Hatfield's and McCoy's was the given name Valentine, which was very uncommon in rural Indiana and most rural communities, so I thought there might be a connection between him and the famous Hatfield's. However I believe the connection if there is one must be long before the family wars started.
Although I have been surprised before when I think I know what was going it works out completely different.

Thank you for your support your help is greatly appreciated.

This is very old post, and maybe subsequent news has rendered it moot.

My material great grand parents were Valentine and Ida Hatfield.

Ida died in 1963, in Dallas, Texas, I am sorry I don't know exactly when she died (I was 13 when she died),

My Grandfather was Russel Hatfield. He died in 1958, in Dallas, Texas. Russell was born in 1900.
The brother Lawrence was murdered in Kansas City, Missouri, but I am not sure of the exact year.

Harold lived and worked in the Dallas, Texas area for many years. He was a general foreman over large construction projects, for instance the building of a shopping mall in Dallas. I am not sure of the year of his death, but I am fairly sure he died in Lake Whitney, Texas.

Apologies for the lack of precision.

I have lots of other information if you need it, or want it,
