I have posted several messages previously in my search for JOSEPH HOWARD, of Hemel Hempstead, Herts, England.

Any help will be appreciated in gaining further information on his time in Aus' or his parents or siblings.

He was transported as a criminal to NSW, Australia, in 1837 aboard the Asia V.

I have some documents from his time in Aus', Ticket of Leave in 1842 and 'Certificate of Freedom' on 2 September 1844, but none give me his parents names, or anything to enable me to identify any siblings.

One line of research is that he may have had a 'liaison' with an aboriginal lady called Ballandilla and had a child called Mary, but I cannot prove this.

A researcher did give me this:

-------------------------------------------

Born 1846, McDonald and Colo River - Mary Howard to Joseph and Ballandilla; Registration V18461420 31A. Because of the date, this certificate would only give you the names of the parents - no other background information which would indicate if this is your Joseph.

--------------------------------------------

Also, this is what I have on his death:

Burial: 21 September 1874, Upper Pyramul, nr. Mudgee, NSW, Australia.
Cause of Death: Senile bronchitis, suffered for 6 months
Death registered: 5 October 1874, Mudgee, Australia, by George Leary
Medical Information: Certified by Joseph Stratton, householder & acting undertaker.Death cert. reg'n. no. 1874/006197 NSW

Any help finding anything on his life in Aus' or before he married in England will really be appreciated.

Ron
