Returning convicts

Hi all. I need some help please. I have an ancestor, Francis Wooldridge, born 1754 Oldswinford, Worcestershire, UK. He was transported on The Admiral Gambier in 1811 for the terrible crime of passing a forged banknote! His sentence was death, commuted to life and at some time, further commuted to 14 years. I have documents of his trial, sentence, transport and arrival at New South Wales. I then found his burial in 1840 at Oldswinford, Worcestershire, UK. I need to find out how long he served in Australia, how he got his pardon and when he came home. The list of pardons seem to start at 1830. I think he was pardoned before then. How do I find out?
Thanking you in advance,
Paul Wooldridge
Ironbridge, Shropshire, UK
