William Bryant arrived 1834 on the "Hive"

Surnames: Bryant, Labatt
I'm looking for info on my 4th Great uncle William BRYANT who was sentenced to Life at the Gloucester Assizes 10.8.1833 for theft/housebreaking.

He was of the Mangotsfield parish, Gloucestershire.

Son of Issac Bryant & Elizabeth Britten, we believe.

William was transported to NSW on the "Hive" in 1834 and on arrival sent to Goat Island, then a sandstone quarry.

We next pick him up on 28 May 1847 with his Ticket of Leave. This allowed him to remain in the Newcastle district.
We don't know what he did there.

Three years later he was granted a Ticket of Leave Passport on 16 Jun 1850. He was sent to Wide Bay and Burnett with surveyor Labatt. In Jun 1850 a Conditional Pardon was granted. However, he absconded from Surveyor Labatt and the CP was with held.

I think he was recaptured. We lose track of him .....

What would have happened to him if he was recaptured??

So far, we cannot find any descendants for William Bryant.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Regards,
Sarah
