If George's widow Maria J. Russell made application for a pension in 1891 in Connecticut, why can I not find her in the 1870 census. She and her daughter were living in Derby CT in 1880. Not being familiar with matters pertaining to the Civil War, I do not understand to what infantry troop he was assigned. I think it says D. L.? Conn. Infantry. the application number is 517758. thank you
