Having found close family friends on the 1940 Census, I immediately downloaded the 1940 Census Abstract Forms (2 pgs) available at Ancestry.com.
Upon close scrutiny (the headers are very tiny print) I discovered that Column 12 on the abstract form is incorrect. The header on the abstract is a duplicate of Column 6 which asks "Does this houshold live on a farm? (Yes or No)".
Column 12 should inquire re "Marital Status - Single (S), Married (M), Widowed (Wd), Divorced (D)".
Also, I noticed a small typo on the Supplementary Questions portion at the bottom of the page. Under "Usual Occupation, Industry, and Class of Worker", 3rd line, 1st word - it says "logest" which should actually read "longest".
Irregardless of these errors, it was exciting to begin research on this long awaited census.
Happy hunting!!
