I am trying to find Jane Dixon, born abt. 1796 in Allendale, on the 1841 Census. She had a daughter, also named Jane Dixon, who was born about 1829 in Allendale and christened in Haltwhistle.
On the 1851 Census Jane Dixon, age 55, was a gatekeeper and her daughter was living with her at Thornley Gate in Allendale. By the 1861 Census she is age 65 and was living with her daughter Jane and son-in-law Henry Burn in Lambley. At that time her occupation was given as a grocer. By the 1871 Census her son-in-law is the grocer and she is probably deceased.
Both the 1851 & 1861 Census list Jane Dixon, the mother, as a "Widow", but her daughter's Marriage Certificate on 7 June 1851 states that she is a "Single Woman".
I would appreciate any help finding Jane Dixon, b. abt. 1796.
