Hi,

I have a general question about something I saw on a Census report regarding my Mom. How accurate are the Census reports? I am seeing that my Mom is listed as a "STEP DAUGHTER" while her brothers and sisters are listed as son or daughter. My Mom is the last child born to my Grandma, and had a different father than the rest and different last name, and the census is showing my Grandma as the head of household. She was not married at the time of the census or living with a man. Whats the possibility that the census taker recorded the information wrong

cenus' are rife with the wrong info - dependant on the literacy of the family (whether someone else filled out the form or not - sometimes one of the children filled this out) + the "standing" of the family (they did not want someone to know something) etc

If you can, check another census year to see if the info is the same.
