Who can be buried in the GAR Cemetery. Anyone?

Who can be buried in the GAR Cemetery. Anyone?

Surnames: Barthen
My great-great-uncle Henry George Barthen is buried in the GAR Cemetery in Snohomish. (Born Chippewa Falls Wisconsin 1888, died Tacoma Washington 1942).

He wasn't in the military as far as I know because he suffered from Polio as a boy and walked with a limp.

My question is this: What were the qualifications to buried in that cemetery? Could anybody be buried there?

Thank you,
Barb

The GAR Cemetery in Snohomish is now under the direction of a community-based board of directors. While it was started by the GAR, it is managed by the City of Snohomish.

Web site: http://www.cityofsnohomish.com/pages/cemetery.htm

Ceremonies honoring veterans with particular emphasis on the Civil War soldiers buried there are held throughout the year. Burial sites are available. Follow the links to get in touch with the property managers.
