There are twelve Gates family members buried in the family cemetery in Castleton, Vermont.
Cyrus Gates, Soldier in the Rev. d. J'5 1883, Age 82. Mercy Gates, wife of Cyrus Gates, d. Oct 24, 1831, Age 73 years. Betsey (Kingsley), 1st wife of Elisha Gates, d, Sept 27, 1830, age 29 years (died from allergic reaction to bee sting). *She was likely to be the first to be buried in this cemetery. Elisha H. Gates (son of Cyrus, husband of Betsey) d. Mar 1, 1864, age 66 years, 4 mos. John A Gates, Son of Elisha and Louisa (2nd wife), d. May 29, 1845, age 2 yrs 2 mos. Elizabeth Gates, wife of Capt. Nathaniel Oak, Late of Chelsea VT, sister of Cyrus Gates, Late of Castleton, d. Sept 14, 1842, age 78 yrs. Caroline Gates, daughter of Elisha and Louisa Gates, d. June 30, 1842, age 3 yrs and 6 mos. Elisha Gates, son of Elisha and Louisa, d. May 30, 1838, age 1 yr, 3 mos. Elisha, sone of Elisha and Louisa, d. Jan 2, 1834, age 4 mos. Louisa Gates, wife of Elisha Gates, b. March 30, 1812, d. Jan 11, 1898, Edgar W. Gates, sone of Elisha and Louisa Gates, d. April 6, 1859, age 18 yrs. Betsey L Gates, daughter of Elisha and Louisa Gates, d. Aug 31, 1851, age 20 years.

I am a direct descendant of Cyrus Gates and have extensive information on this line of the family.
