I have a copy of my maternal grandmother's death certificate, it states she is buried at the Concordia Cemetary, her name; Bernarda Velasquez. She died in El Paso, March 24, 1918, trying to locate where she is buried at the cemetary she was born August 24, 1883/1886. Tried looking
at sites to help locate graves but to no avail.
Her mother; Estefana Barba Velasquez, and a daughter, Josefina(or Josephine)Velasquez(or Phelps).
Thank you for your assistance.

In conducting my research of the cemetery and who was buried there, I noted that most of the grave sites although marked with crosses were not identified with a name. Further, many of the grave stones were also so delapidated that none of the information on them could be read. I posted/photographed as many of the names of those buried at Concodia and the adjacent Brooks/Fuentes Cemetery as I could find and saw on to findagrave.com. Since the death of my Godmother I noticed that several others had been buried there but did not have the chance to photograph them. Unfortunately from experience you will have more luck going there than dealing with the local mortuaries or the County Court Clerk in Marfa. It was hit and miss with me over the last few years.

Thank you for your reply. I was sorry to hear that many grave sites were unmarked or dilapidated. Maybe someday I will be able to visit the site and investigate further and add to my family history.

Hi, my name is Yolanda Carrillo and I am trying to locate graves of my ancestor who live in Shafter in 1880 and 1900's. Our family names were Carrillo and Ramirez. My grfather was Macedonio Carrillo whose father was Francisco Carrilo. My grfather Macedonio died in Shafter while working in the mines. I believe both family work in the mines. I was also born in Shafter in 1942 but then we move to Big Springs later. I am tracing my family line and would love any info. I will try to make a trip to Shafter later in the year.
