I went back to Smiley after 45 years to visit the Burriola cemetery, many of my relatives were buried there. The Pompa's, Mejia's and even my grandfather ( Juan Ramon Pena) that was born in 1870, story is that he helped clear this land for the cemetery. I have been trying to find the history of the cemetery. My mother who is 93 remembers your family (the Burriola's) would you share anything you know about it. The year it was started and how it came to be open to others. It would be grand to have it registered as a historical place. I took pictures on my visit in May of this year. Anything you would share would be greatly appreciated.
