First, my internet connection is out of order and I am on a public computer at the library; so my email address is void for now. Second; the information someone gave you about the death death dates all being the same is wrong.
Here's what I found:
In the death index for Shelby Co., TN I only found James and Maria listed. (you can access these at
http://register.shelby.tn.us/index.php) Maria's cause of death is smallpox and James appears to be first listed as "elaupsia" which is post partum fever, then looks like typhoid is written over that; BUT... the daily record of burials at Elmwood lists smallpox as cause of death for all four.
William Ben. McNabb Jr. interred Aug. 12, 1866 in Turley section, Lot 11 #7; died age 16 years of smallpox
Levins McNabb int. Aug. 12, 1866 Turley Section Lot 11 #8; died age 11 years of smallpox
unamed "child of McNabb" which is probably your Maria Louise, int. July 22, 1866 Turley sec. Lot 11 #6, died aged 4 years 10 months of smallpox
James McNabb int. June 7, 1866 Turley sec. lot 11 #5, died jun 7, 1866 (per death index) aged 2 years, 2 months, 20days, of smallpox (per cem. records)
Turley Section Lot 11 owned by W. McNabb and J. R. Jones
Not all graves there have stones, and the stones there are badly weathered and very hard to read.(I could not make out anything on them)
Cem. records for Lot 11 show 14 graves occupied:
1. C. C. (G. G.?) McNabb
2. Louisa J. Jones Int. Jan. 11, 1856
3. Elijah Oliver
4. child of Jones
5. Jas. McNabb
6. child of McNabb
7. child of McNabb
8. child of McNabb
9. child of mCNabb
10. Louisa V. Jones
11. Edna May Davidson
12. Mrs. Mariah I. McNabb
13. Jasper N. Jones
#14 has two names enter that were later crossed out:
Mrs. W. E. Davidson (apparently moved later; but no date)
Lucile Davidson, moved to Fowler Section Lot 708; 2-24-1890
14. Mary J, Jones Int. Int. 7-23-17 (1917?)
Hope this helps. I came across you query while searching for something else (which is a brick wall for now) and thought I would take diversion looking for something I could actually find! Happy Hunting!
You can snail me at Hunter W. Johnston, 1781 Wilson Road, Memphis, TN 38116 if I can help further.
