Hi Shirley, I was @ Green-Wood last weekend and I walked section 61 to try and find the LOT/Grave of Lucinda & possible Tryon relatives. This seems to be an older section of the cemetery that is divided into family lots. I dd not find a stone bearing the Tryon name. It is possible I missed it or that it is unmarked.
I have been to Green-Wood many times and have many relatives buried within.
I am not sure how familiar you are with Green-Wood but they have a great website (
http://www.green-wood.com/) and actively encourage visitors to their location. It is unlike any other cemetery I have visited.
Using their burial search feature it shows Lucinda is buried with 2 relatives:
TRYON, HENRY 15 Feb 1852
TRYON, RUSSELL 31 May 1849
TRYON, LUCINDA 31 May 1849
It is possible Lucinda & Russell were twins or possibly moved to Sec 61 on the same date from another burial location?
I plan on making a couple more trips to Green-Wood this summer.......if you had more detailed info regarding the Tryon Section/Lot I would be glad to look again.
You can contact their staff via email for a more detailed map of Section 61.
In the past, they have mailed/emailed me a digitized map with individual graves/lots located within a Section. From that map it is possible to pinpoint the exact grave location to determine if it is marked/unmarked.
Every time I have contacted staff they have been more than helpful in unraveling whatever mysteries or questions I had for them regarding burials of ancestors. In my experience they have always willing to go the extra mile to assist.
They do have a pay genealogy service for those interested but always give an estimate for info and have never been pushy about selling this. They are an invaluable resource for those willing to do the legwork, I encourage you to give it a try. Feel free to email me if you decide to take it further.
Hope this helps your search,
