Surnames: Merritt / Hood / Quinn / Mayfield
I am trying to locate the gravesites of Ezekiel Merritt and his wife Almeda Hood Merritt. They were married in 1845 in AL and moved to Monroe Co. in 1845. They had 3 children: Ophelia Angeline, William, & Roxie Almeda. The family is listed on the 1850 census as being residents of Monroe Co., MS. Almeda died in 1859 and the 1860 census shows Ezekiel & the 3 children, however he is not found again on any census, so it is assumed that he has died by 1870. Almeda's obit says that she died at her home near Camargo, MS. Ezekiel's parents were Thomas & Savilla Mayfield Merritt (buried at Verona Cemetery). Almeda's parents were William Hood & Cecelia Quinn. I am unable to locate where Ezekiel & Almeda are buried. I am also unable to locate where Almeda's parents (William Hood & Cecelia Hood) are buried. I would appreciate any information regarding any member of this family. I would like to know what happened to Ezekiel. I believe William Hood was a preacher. I would like any information. Thanks in advance.
