I'm sorry but I don't find any Belliveaus in this cemetery listing. For a French Canadian who died in St. Paul you may want to try St. John's cemetery in Little Canada. The Little Canada Historical Society has the church records on microfilm. Good Luck!

Hi! I am wondering if there is a listing for Mrs. Susan Grey, died April 1918. She was a Poor Farm resident. Her maiden name was McGinnis. All info would be welcome. Also, does the book provide interesting history about the Poor Farm or is it a transcription of burial records only.

Thanks for your help!!!

I may have found your lady, but I am not certain. There is no "Susan Grey" in the book. There is, however, a "Susan Gray". Here is the exact wording from the transcription:

Gray, Susan (Mrs.) Color: W Age/Sex: 78-F b. USA;
d. 12 Apr 1917, chronic nephritis, City and County Hospital; Marital: Widow
Loc: L10 G17 Buries: May 1917 Book: B #500

The book does provide a short (and interesting) history of the cemetery, but not the poor farm itself.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Oops, that should read "buried May 1 1917". Sorry about the typo :-)

I am Richard Vehlow of latham, NY , and am looking up Alice Sutton, (1/28/1917 to 5/11/1919), who was an older sister to my grandmother. A geneological lookup site has her buried in the Poor farm cemetery. Parents were Sam and mary Sutton. Is there an entry in this book, and what does it say.

If the plot is tracked down, does this cemetery allow headstones or reinterments elsewhere? I do not like the thought of a relative of mine forever in an unmarked grave.

Thanks,

Richard Vehlow

Hi Richard, I did find an entry for your grandmother's sister! It appears she died from scarlet fever. Here is what the entry reads:

Sutton, Alice Color: W, Age/Sex 2 y-F, b. US; d. 11 May 1919, scarlet fever, City and County Hospital, Loc: L3 G34, Buried 13 May 1919, Book B #1202

As far as I know there is only one grave in the cemetery that is marked. I grew up that area and have driven by it many times. You would not even know that there is a cemetery there - it just looks like a small field. I have no idea whether they will install markers or relocate remains.

I suggest you contact the Maplewood Historical Society for additional info about the poor farm http://www.maplewoodhistoricalsociety.org/

The Minnesota Historical Society is also a great resource for genealogy researchers:

Good luck!

Thank you very much! Yes, that is her. Only the book states the year of death as 1917 while the death certificate indicates 1918. Interesting....

Appreciate your help!

Could you look up "Julia Flowers Fiore Derouin Drouin Darwin"? She was married to "Albert Derouin Drouin Darwin" and died during the flu pandemic in 1918 in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota. Recent information says she was buried in the county "poor farm cemetery". I would like to know if there are details. She is one of my most difficult ancestresses to research as she had a propensity to give many different birth and life details on censuses and childrens birth certificates. I have recently discovered her parents names to be Frances Fiore and Grace Ponsane, Italy but haven't seen any source information.

Thank-you so much for your help.

Does a (Nils) Peter Lomell (1833-1882) appear in this book? He is said to have died in a poor farm, and the last residence we have for them was in Ramsey county.

I have found my Julia Darwin but no specifics. I found Find-A-Grave has a listing of 2,329 of the interments at the Ramsey County "Poor Farm" cemetery.

Could you look up Julia Darwin to see if there is any additional information? Find-A-Grave lists her secondly as Mrs. Albert Darwin and death date of 13 Oct 1918.

Thank-you.
