Re: St Francis Xavier Cemetery aka Ecorse, Michigan Cemetery
I am looking for Oliver Pitre's grave (and death date). I see him in the US Census records living in Ecorse from 1840 through 1870 under various derivations of his name, some quite different (Peet, Petter, Pete). By 1880, his wife is listed as widowed living in Ecorse with their daughter. So I believe Oliver died between 1870 and 1880. They were Catholic, so I would expect him to be buried in a Catholic cemetery in the Ecorse area. His baptism is under the name Olivier Lepitre, whereas his marriage is under Olivier Pitre. I take the church record's derivations/spellings of his name to be more accurate than the Census records, so I would expect his grave to be more closely aligned with these . Could you check your records to see if he and/or his wife (Frances Soumande Pitre) are buried in St. Francis Xavier's cemetery?

Re: St Francis Xavier Cemetery aka Ecorse, Michigan Cemetery
I am looking for a Charles O. Smith and Dorothy Mae Smith. Dorothy died on Sept 6, 1932 in Ecorse, MI (or that is what my grandmother had told me). I have been looking for Charles for about 13 years and earlier this year I found his death certificate! On the certificate it says death date is Jul 9, 1931, Ecorse, Wayne, MI. I do not expect to see any headstones, my grandmother told me that they did not have a lot of money and the only thing she remembers were gates at the beginning of the cemetery and she could not recall stones for either of them. I hope I am not too late to inquire about them. But if so I will eventually make it up there. And if they are up there please tell me their location so I can pay respects and lay a long journey to rest. P.S. My grandmother had told me that her mother had two stillborn boys called Elwin Charles and Leonard Dean but she really questioned herself about it.

Re: St Francis Xavier Cemetery aka Ecorse, Michigan Cemetery
Dorothey Mae is buried at St Francis Xavier cemetery aka Ecorse cemetery in an unmarked grave. Charles O's death certificate says he's buried at Parkview Cemetery and the only Parkview I know of is in Livonia.
