Wellington Cemetery look-up
I have strong evidence to believe that my great great uncle, Samuel V. Girrell (often spelled Girrill), is buried in Wellington Maine. Would anyone near any of the cemeteries there be willing to do a look up for me to confirm? Samuel was born in 1837 and was living in Wellington in 1910 with his second wife, Angelette Frances (Buzzell) Girrell. He was a Civial War Veteran.

Re: Wellington Cemetery look-up
All I can tell you is that Samuel Valentine Gerrill's wife, Angelette Frances Buzzell is buried on the 'family lot on Ralph Huff farm' in Wellington, Maine. I would suspect after the snow goes away, someone can look there for you. I have a friend who know the cemetery well. Do you have any other information of this man?

Re: Wellington Cemetery look-up
First of all, let me thank you for anwering this posting! After nearly a year, I had pretty well given up that anyone would see it.
Samuel V. Gerrill (Girrell is how all the rest of us spell it) is one of 4 brothers who served in the Civil War from the Girrell family. Samuel V. served in the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery. He is my great-grand uncle and the one I know least about. He was born in Charleston, Me. and was the eldest of his siblings.
His brother William was a Sergeant in the Civil War. William is buried at the Corinthian cemetery in Corinth, Me. along with 10 other Girrells. His brother Edmund is my great grand father. His brother Stephen died in Louisiana while serving in the war.
Samuel is not in the Corinthian cemetery, and I suspect it is because he re-married Angelette after his first wife's death (his first wife was Eliza Ellen Graves). Following Agelette's thread led me to Wellington and hence the request to see if Samuel might have been buried there. I do not have a death date for him. Since he was a civil war vet, I am hoping the grave was better attended and perhaps marked with a metal veteran's marker.
At any rate, if your friend is willing to take a walk-through the cemetery or look in the records, I would appreciate a photo or at least verification of his death date.
An important thing to note is that the Girrell family name is doomed to extinction in the USA. There are 24 living individuals in the US now with that surname. Only 3 little boys , 1 unmarried 20 year old, and 1 30-something who is having children now - he just contributed 2 little guys - our greatest hope.
Therfore it is extrmemly important to me to capture every shred of information about the family that I can and get it written down for historical purposes.
I await the spring in hopes your friend can make a visit and fill in a tiny piece of my ancestry. Thanks ever so much for responding!

Re: Wellington Cemetery look-up
Hello again, After 7 years, I was wondering if you got this straightened out? I had gone to the Ralf Huff cemetery in Wellington last summer and had forgot all about this query of yours. Ref. Samuel Valentine Gerrill (Girrill) (Girrell) and Angelette Frances (Buzzell) Girrell. From what I know, Angelette had 3 husbands. Samuel Gerrill, Leonard Hamilton, and Rufus Jones. I was living in Thailand when we last corresponded. Now I am in Maine. Is there something I can help you with now? Lloyd Dalton
