Mt.Carmel Cemetery, Baltimore MD Removal of Remains

I am searching for my grandmother's remains. Annie B.Dougherty was laid to rest in 1928. I have contacted Mt. Carmel and the current ownership said the remains were removed by the government about 40 years ago when Interstate 95 was built. Cemetery management said the government notified families prior to the removal. We were not notified and I am thinking maybe my grandmother's family (who I never knew) might have the information and signed the release. My grandmother was Annie Belle Eckard Dougherty-born 1909 and died 1928 at University Hospital, Baltimore, MD Spouse: Jack Dougherty(Baltimore, MD) Sons: Charles and Donald Dougherty. Parents: Henry Eckard and Barbara Shriner (Carroll Co., MD). Any information would be appreciated.

The Enoch Pratt Free Library main branch as well as the Harford County Public Library main branch have copies of a book that lists those buried in Mt Carmel Cemetery. It does include information on those remains that were moved when Interstate 95 was built. There is also a map of the cemetery in the book in order to help locate family members. The names in the book are listed Alphabetically. I hope this helps you.

Although I'm sorry to say I know nothing about the removal of the remains your asking about, the Barbara Shriner from Carroll Co., MD caught my eye.

I have been trying to find out information about my great grandmother Barbara Shriner who lived and I believe was born in Carroll Co., MD. The information I have is that she was married 3 times. Her second husband was a Charles Eckert. I have three children listed: Grace, Lilly Mae and Clinton.

If anything sounds even slightly familiar please post a reply.

What a surprise when I received your e-mail!
Please feel free to e-mail at Dawgview@aol.com.
I don't have alot of information about my great grandmother, Barbara Shriner Eckard - I only met her once when I was a young child -she lived near BWI Airport/Linthicum Heights. My mother says that they had lived in Baltimore for awhile. My grandmother - Annie Belle Eckard Dougherty and her sister Jessie Eckard Fallon were the daughter's of Henry C.Eckard and Barbara Shriner Eckard. I'm not sure when they lived in Carroll County. I am following up other information I received this summer that: Barbara Shriner Eckard was the sister of Herb Shriner from Taneytown. I have written Kin Shriner to inquire about his relationship to Herb Shriner - my sister says Kin Shriner and his brother Will are the sons of Herb Shriner. I'm still waiting confirmation from Kin.
I did find the grave of my grandmother and uncle. The owner of the grave lot was FINK. Have you come across that name?
Hope to hear from you soon. Diana

Do you know a Henry Frederick Moll who was married to a Mollie (Mary) Dougherty? If so, do you know where she is buried? She died at child birth. She had several offsprings. Anna, Mary, Henry, Joseph and Philip. Louisa Westerman was Henry's second wife and they are buried in Baltimore Cemetary. Appreciate any information you can forward to me.

Thanks. Joan

I do not know Henry Frederick Moll or a Mollie (Mary) Dougherty at this time. My grandmother Anna Belle Dougherty had 3 sons, Charles, Earl and David Donald before she died of a brain tumor at the age of 19. She was married to William (Jack) Dougherty. Jack Dougherty was born in 1900 and I have no further info on his father or grandfather. Jack's mother was Eva Milejeski from Germany/Poland. Jack had a brother Joseph Thomas and John Earl and a sister Frances M.(Ida). Jack's second marriage was to Esther Hooper. Jack died in 1961.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi,

I just received word from a family member on the Moll side that Mary (Mollie) Dougherty my great grandmother who was married to Henry Frederick Moll was buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family member said he used to visit and leave flowers on the grave when he was a child. I also wanted you to know that a Joseph Dougherty was a boarder with Henry and Mary Dougherty Moll in 1900. He was 35 years of age at the time. He was born in June of 1864. I got the information from the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore City (Census Records). I am not sure that the grave is still there but I intend to visit and find out. I understand it was at the beginning of the cemetary.
