Do a search on Ancestry. I tried it and 92 Zancan records showed up.

Hi Laura,

I am related to the Zancans of Vermont and MA. I have a bit of information. Would you like to connect?

Thanks,

Rob...
Thank you for your reply! I really do need some help with the "Zancans". It's a rather complicated story but an interesting one, nonetheless. Do you know how I can give you my email or would you prefer to answer on these boards? Whatever...I would apreciate ANY help. Thanks again.

My ancestors are exactly who you are looking for. Hopefully posting the link like this works:

Thank you! These may indeed be my Zancans but I can't be sure. My search is for a Zancan who is the father of Teresa Zancan, b.1897 in Massachusetts. I believe her mother died in childbirth. Teresa was sent away to a convent/orphanage as an infant. (I've always been told that her father blamed her for her mother's death.) That child was my grandmother...she NEVER spoke of any of this. My mother told me what little she knew. What I suppose that I need is someone in the Zancan family who might have known of this. There is more but this is the basis of everything else.

Teresa is on line 85. This is the census from an orphanage.

I have some records for her from censuses but it is her history that I need. I just don't know where to go to find proof of her father, mother, etc. I've found a few male Zancan's who may be related but, alas, no record of where she might fit. I've also considered a Canadian connection. This may be the "wall" that everyone seems to hit when tacing their ancestry. Thank you for the help.

How did you make out with the Zancans?

Unfortunately, I am still kicking at the proverbial wall. My Zancan connection eludes me at every turn. I seem to be missing some very important family clues around the turn of the century (1900).
