I am a descendant of Reverend Davis Collins and about two years ago tried without success to locate the cemetery where he is buried. I would love to hear from anyone with knowledge of the location of this cemetery. Davis Collins began his ministry in SC probably around 1790 before moving to Marion County MS around 1815. He was also a medical doctor. Petitions signed by numerous residents of Marion and surrounding counties of south MS were submitted to the legislature requesting that he be permitted to practice medicine in that area after he failed the new State licensing examination. At the time of his death he was pastor of First Baptist Church of Jackson, LA. He was a son of Lewis Collins who was a Baptist minister in SC perhaps as early as the 1770s. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can assist me with locating the Brian Cemetery.
