This photo was taken at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho. I am on a project of taking headstone photos here in Canyon County, Idaho. The website is at

Hope this finds a relative! All my photos free but most of the enjoyment if finding family who will enjoy them or will help their research. Please let me know if it has helped someone. I know it may be a mystery but with the unusual name of Croxen I thought it may help someone. My photos are large so give them time to appear.
Thanks

Yes, I believe you have found a relative of Rosa Mable Farr Croxen. She was married to my great uncle Clarence Croxen; he died in 1967 and is buried in Bonner, Idaho. I do appreciate you taking the time to photograph and post headstones on the internet. I live in the middle of Oregon and it is not always possible to travel to find these gems. I am new at this genealogy thing and finds are just thrilling. Thanks again for your time and efforts. Much appreciated. Like you stated our Croxen name is unusual and it has been misspelled in countless ways. Cyndi Croxen Butler

Did any of your Croxens come from Iowa or Nebraska?

Surnames: Croxen Donaldson Berton/Barton
Yes. England, Illinois, then Nebraska. Thomas Croxen was born in England to Benjamin and Ann Croxen (their 3rd son) and married Mary Berton (or Barton) we have not been able to determine her last name. Thomas and Mary's first child (James 1850) was born in England, second (Jane 1852) Ohio, rest (William, Phebe, Richard, Eliza, and Edward) in Illinois. Richard, my greatgrandfather, moved to Nebraska between 1870 and 1880 and all 10 of his children were born in Nebraska. Benjamin and Ann Croxen's second son, William b 1822 England, had a son James John born abt 1860 Illinois, and a daughter Hannah born abt 1858 Illinois, they lived in Davenport, Scott, Iowa in 1880 with their mother, Nancy Donaldson Croxen, divorced from William. They had moved to Minnesota by 1900 though. I find no other Iowa connections.
