Hi, are you still looking? Have you found Lettie in the 1900 census? Do you know her month of birth? What is her mother's maiden name? If her name is mangled in a death record, her birth date and parents' names will help to identify her.

I'm having trouble getting the chronology down, of who was where, when. This matters because it affects where to look for a burial. There are so many cemeteries, and can be several even in one small town. You mention two locations, below. Elsewhere you mentioned Orofino. It would be useful if you would make a list of all known locations around the time of her possible death, in chronological order (including the county name helps too).

You posted this a number of years ago: "Can anyone help me find where Letitia Eunice Weaver died? or where she might be buried. She was born in Washington around 1884. She married Charles S Weaver 1901 in Pomeroy, [Garfield county], Washington. They had five children: Marvin, Joseph, Orville, Neil and Louise. The boys were all born in Washington, and Louise was born in Nez Perce Idaho in 1911. Letitia or also know as Litte died between 1913 and 1917. She might have died in Weippe [Clearwater county] or Lenore [Nez Perce county], Idaho. This has been a big brick wall for me for years now."

You received this answer: "The Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics maintains birth and death records filed from July 1911 to the present, and marriage and divorce records filed from May 1947 to the present. Some counties may have older birth, death, marriage, or divorce records in their files, but county files contain only records of vital events that occurred in that county. Go to this ID site for further info. You should order her death cert. as it will state place of burial."

You replied: "Thank you. Lettie is not listed in the Idaho death records, fact is she not listed anywhere in any of the vital records for Idaho, Washington, or Oregon that I can find."

I am wondering how you know what you do know about Letitia. What is the source of that death year of 1916? Perhaps family knowledge? I am curious what the family story is - because of your statement that you cannot find her in vital records. Is it possible Letitia left the family and family members (the children perhaps) were told she had died? Could there have been a divorce, and she remarried? Below, transcriptions from Ancestry.com:

1910 US census
Vineland, Asotin County, Washington
Charles S Weaver 31
Lettie U Weaver 25 <-----------------
Marvin E Weaver 6
Joseph M Weaver 3
Orville Weaver 2
Neal Weaver 0 <------------------[5 months old]
William Rouland 65 boarder
William R Ground 29 servant
** all the Weavers are listed as born in Washington

1910
Marengo, Columbia County, Washington
Roy L Stocking 31
Lettie Weaver 25, housekeeper, b Washington, father b Canada, mother b Arizona <------------
Neal Weaver 0 <-----------------
** Lettie listed as married 7 years, has had 6 children, 4 are living

It appears that Lettie was counted twice. Charles could have been the informant for the 1910 and told the census taker that his wife and baby were members of the household, even if they were not living there. Letitia could have been working away from home for the income. Or it could be she had left Charles, then returned to him, had another baby, and left again. (would be interesting to compare DNA of Louise descendants with everyone else). I am not saying that is what happened. There's a Roy L Stocking in Idaho in 1940 (census says residence 1935 in Clearwater county, 1940 in Garfield county), born about 1879 in Minnesota, single, living with his brother and brother's family. I need to go back and find him in 1920 and 1930 (or you could check). A Roy Livingston Stocking died in Nez Perce county, Idaho, in 1951, born in Minnesota, father Wm. (Idaho Death Index on Ancestry). In 1880 he seems to be in Dassel, Meeker, Minnesota.

If Roy is only an employer, tracking him in the census is silly, but that is a very unusual looking set up in those two 1910 census records.

So if Letitia left the family, and if there was secrecy about that, and if the children were told she died, and if she remarried (not necessarily to Roy Stocking), that would indeed make her impossible to find in vital records. This is only one of a number of "outside the box" scenarios that could be imagined. Perhaps you've already considered a number of possibilities.

Alternately, her name might be mangled in a transcription in a digital database .... a much simpler explanation. And I don't think it was legally required to register a death. Perhaps her death simply was not registered. This last is the most likely scenario.

Have you written to the cemeteries in the towns and townships where you know they lived? Even if the death were not registered, one expects that the cemetery would have a record of her burial. If the family were members of a church, their church also might have a record.

WWI Draft Registration for Charles
12 Sept 1918
Charles S Weaver
Agatha, Nez Perce, Idaho
Birth Date: 4 May 1879
Race: White, Roll: 1452220, Draft Board: 0
Nearest relative: Marvin Weaver of Agatha, Idaho
** [Marvin would be only about 12 - first time I've seen a child as next-of-kin]

Here's Charles in 1920 (which I think you have), name was transcribed as Weadon.

1920
Lenore, Nez Perce, Idaho
Charles Weaver 40, b Washington, married, farmer, father b USA, mother b Illinois
Marian 16, WA [Marvin?]
Mearl 13, WA [Joseph?]
Orval 12, WA [Orville?]
Neal 10, WA
Joseph Weaver 60, b Missouri, brother

WHERE IS LOUISE?
Back in an edit: Just found another post of yours that says Louise was born 03 May 1911 but you could not find her birth record.

Idaho Death records show Charles died 10 Apr 1938 in Nez Perce county, Idaho, born 05 May 1879. But where is Lettie....
