I am looking for any information on Carlisle African Methodist Episcopal Church, no longer there but cemetery is there. On the road from Dover to Hartly Delaware. It does not come up in any of the data bases I have tried.

I don't have a cemetery with that name in my records. Can you give me some more information? Do you know the route number or road name that the church used to be on?
I see that there was a cemetery in Hartly junction of 93 & 96 but no records exist and it was destroyed prior to 1963. It existed in 1955.
There are also some unnamed Methodist cemeteries in that area.
I need a bit more to go on.

I am trying to find the location of Carlisle Cemetery as well. I have copies of death certificates showing burials there as of 1912, 1919, and 1944. I've heard rumors that it was detroyed when the Dupont Highway was built. (If so, wouldn't the graves have been moved?) Thanks, John

For anyone looking for Carlisle Church and cemetery in Kent County, I have determined the location and would be happy to share the details. Unfortunately, grave markers are no longer evident. Thanks, Pam

Thank you so much, Pam, for your diligence and hard work! It is greatly appreciated. So sorry to hear of the cemetery's apparent demise. I very much appreciate the documentation you have shared. Thanks again, John

According to the book "Souls in Heaven, Names in Stone", there were 3 cemeteries known to be in the Hartly area that were destroyed with no records available.
1 at the junction of 93 and 96 - existed in 1955, gone by 1963. 1 northeast of 176, northwest of 11 - destroyed prior to 1955. 1 south of 103, destroyed prior to 1955.
There is however, the Friendship AME Church Cemetery in Kenton - which is close to Hartly. If you provide a name, I'll look up in the books that I purchased when researching my family history in that area.
