Wow. There are several St. Peter's in Delaware. There is a St. Peter's catholic church on West Street in Wilmington. No cemetery is officially listed in the phone book, but that means nothing.

Can you give me any additional hints?

St. Peter's phone # is 302-654-5920 if you want to try them. Also check the Delaware Cemetery Project for other possibilities.

True, but that's in Kent County. I assumed that the person would be buried in New Castle County given they lived in Wilmington.

Yes, if they lived in Wilmington they probably are buried in that area although parts of this area are in NewCastle County. I just came from the Dover Archives. If you tell me who you are looking for I will try to check on my next trip.

I'm a few years late to this particular party, but the African American cemetery known as St. Peter's (in the city of Wilmington) was located at Union St. and Lancaster Ave. The cemetery was in the path of what is now Bancroft Pkwy., back in the 1920's. At the time the parkway was being built, the people buried there were disintered, and reburied a few miles down Lancaster Ave. The name of the cemetery where all of the bodies supposedly were moved to is Mt. Olive. It is only partially maintained.

I have an on-going project to catalog all the burials at St. Peters and Mount Olive cemeteries here - with photographs of existing stones.
