Cemeteries in Cromwell and Milford???
Hello,
I live in another state. Can someone please tell me the names of the Cemeteries in or very near the towns of Cromwell and Milford?
My G-Grandmother died during the 1930's in Cromwell, Middlesex County, CT and my Uncle died in 1985 in Milford, New Haven County, CT. I need to find where they were buried and their burial information.
Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Re: Cemeteries in Cromwell and Milford???
Cromwell: 1. Old Cemetery aka Quary, 2 Timber Hill Rd. 2. Kelsey Cem., North Road 3. Old Center aka East, 24 Hillside Rd. 4. West, 29 Hillside Rd. (most likely place) Milford: 1. Milford Center, 35 Gulf St. (most likely -largest) 2. St. Mary Roman Catholic Cem. 3. Kings Highway Cem., Boston Post Road. Don't forget they can be buried in an adjacent town or even farther away. Best bet is to obtain their obituary from a large library near where they died. Also the death certificate from the town clerk in the town they died -sometimes that has the burial info but it costs $10 in CT.

Hi Francojan,
Thank you very much for the list of cemeteries. Actually, $10 isn't a bad price for a death certificate, when compared to what some other states charge. lol

Re: Cemeteries in Cromwell and Milford???
Retta,
Thank you so much for replying to my post with such a gracious offer. Since my original post, I have gathered the following info. My uncle was John Paul Morris b. 15 Feb 1885 in New Bedford, MA and d. 10 Sep 1965 in a fire, at 18 Daniel Street in Milford. I think he was buried on 14 Sep 1965 in Milford Cemetery, Gulf Street section. He was elderly and alone, and I think he was buried by the the town or state??? In that case, would there be a marker on his grave, or would it be unmarked? Can you suggest who I should contact for more info regarding the circumstances surrounding his death? Thank you for any help you can give. As for my G-Grandmother, I have found her grave in the city of New Bedford, MA.

Re: Cemeteries in Cromwell and Milford???
Services for John P (Tex) Morris, 85 of Daniel Street, Milford, who died Friday,in a fire will take place tomorrow (September 14, 1965)at 11:00 a.m. in the George J. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, with the Rev. Edward R. Taft rector of Saint Peter's Church officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery. A native of New Bedford Mass, Mr. Morris was a resident of Milford for 35 years. There are no know survivors. Someone had to give Smith Funeral Home information - and he must have had funds for a funeral with calling hours and burial. I will go over to Milford Cemetery and find out any information I can for you. I can not get over to the cemetery this week - but I will see what I can find out for you. Retta

Re: Cemeteries in Cromwell and Milford???
Ginger Read the thread and I thought you might want to contact Findagrave.com. Your Uncle's burial site is mentioned, but it doesn't have a picture. You might want to request a photo, if you haven't already. I have had good luck with that in my own searches. I would offer to photograph it myself, but getting around on uneven ground is difficult with a cane. Also, George J. Smith & Sons is now Smith & Sefick Funeral Home, but is still located at 135 Broad St. Mfd 06460. Contacting them might get you more info on your uncle. How have you done with your G-Grandmother in the Cromwell area? Irene
