Trying to locate the Pasadena Crematorium. I believe it is no longer in use. Has anyone got an address ? Is there anywhere where I could confirm if my great granfathers ashes were interned on site ? He was cremated in 1947 and I am just wondering it there are monuments or plaques at this crematorium.

I did, thats why I posted here. The only thing that I came up with was a scandal invovling the Lamb funeral home and the crematorium.

I think it might be that searching for "Crematorium" instead of "Mausoleum" might be making it hard to find your gr-grandfather's location. A crematorium is the place where bodies are turned into ashes and a mausoleum is where those ashes might be interred. Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum, technically Altadena but in the Pasadena area, very old (1880's) and according to USGS the only cemetery in Pasadena. I find no listings of cemeteries or mausoleums under the name Pasadena so it might be your best bet to check out. There are over 8,000 listings for this cemetery-mausoleum on FAG.

on his death cert it reads

cremation Jan 28, 1947.
Pasadena Crematorium

and then states the funeral director as Lamb Funeral Home, Pasadena, California.

I wonder how many crematoriums are in Pasadena ??
The one my grandmother was cremated in in Sydney has a crematorium and also walls and gardens where you can have the ashes buried or interned with a plaque. Is it differt in the US ?

I don't think you'll be thrilled with this:
It burned down on 11/23/1986, according to this article, http://articles.latimes.com/1987-02-04/news/mn-536_1_altaden... . Then there were scandalous charges against the owners and son of the facility in 1987-1995, who also owned Lamb Funeral Home, which can be found by an internet search. However, in the 1940s-50s-60s-70s, the facility was highly respected, apparently.

I just found that a relatives ashes were shipped from a funeral home to Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA, several months after his death in a neighboring state, and then they turned the ashes over to Pasadena Crematorium. In the meantime, my grandmother, who had made the arrangements for him and lived in LA with my parents apparently was not contacted, and F.L states that they had no contact information. I do know that the original funeral home did have that contact info (and attorney contact info) and it is also on the death certificate.

Basically, I'd like to know what would have happened to the records for Pasadena Crematorium, but assume that someone at F.L. thought the ashes were unclaimed, and "disposed" of them to Pasadena Crematorium in 1958.

Los Angeles County has a cemetery that takes all the LA County indigent/unclaimed ashes/bodies, if that is of any help. I use to work at the formerly named funeral home, THE LAMB FUNERAL HOME, and there are various records in the basement that you might have them look into for you.

Thank you for your response!
Are the records still in the Pasadena location? I could not find a contact for it now. The City of Pasadena told me the city did not keep records past 6 months either.
I also had been told that after the legal issues, their records went to the state in Sacramento as "evidence". Any further contact leads would be appreciated.

Also, which LA County cemetery would you be speaking of?
Thank you again.
