Alaska Defense command post cemetery 1943

I have an obituary for a Colonel who died in 1942 and was buried in the "post cemetery" in Anchorage in 1943 after his body was found. But, I can find no listing for him in the Fort Richardson cemetery, which I understand was established in 1946. Does anyone know if there is an earlier cemetery than Fort Richardson? I do not see one on Find A Grave or anywhere else.

Since you posted this message Ancestry has a database titled "U.S. National Cemetery Interment Control Forms, 1928-1962" It as several Internment cards for men that died in 1942 and burial at Ft Richardson Post Cemetery.

There are also the same year and earlier deaths listed for a "Sitka National Cemetery". Looking at one card, has died Sept 1942 and it states "originally interred at Ft Richardson Post Cemetery".

Between the two there are 112 cards for deaths 1941 to 1944, most have Sitka Cemetery.
