(NB: also on Glamorgan General Board)
Our local residents group will be including a list of monumental inscriptions in a new book to be published shortly and we're having trouble translating these two inscriptions. Can anyone help with these? Spelling checked in both cases. Inscriptions date between 1860 and 1916.
"Coffad Wrissth y dyfiawyn bydd sydd fendigewdig"
First two words are prob a variant spelling of Coffadwraeth but rest leaves me stuck.
"Ni Frysis Yr Hwn a Credo"
I've seen a similar inscription where Frysis is Frysia but still couldnt translate.
Also this part inscription looks a bit odd:
"In loving memory of GWRAIG JOHN ROWLANDS O’R PLWYF HWN"
As far as I can make out this is Wife/woman of John Rowlands of this parish, but no name is given for her. Any thoughts why this should be?
