Graves for inmates of Park Prewett mental hospital
Would anyone know if I can find information where my aunt would have been buried when she died at Park Prewett Mental hospital at Basingstoke? I understand the hospital has been demolished and a housing estate has been built there now. I believe there were about 1000 burials there. She was 84 when she died in 1987 but had spent all her life since 1918 in institutions and was hardly ever spoken about by her family. I would be very grateful for any information

Re: Graves for inmates of Park Prewett mental hospital
There is a small cemetery just north of Basingstoke on the A339 road. It's on the left, just north of a roundabout. Burials of patients at Park Prewett are here. I think that most do not have headstones and I don't know what records were kept.

Re: Graves for inmates of Park Prewett mental hospital
There is a cemetery north of Basingstoke just west of the A339 Kingsclere Road at the Wootton St Lawrence turning. Park Prewett now known as Limes Park is on the east side of the A339. This was the burial ground for the Park Prewett psychiatric hospital. Most of the burials are unmarked and it is now used for newborn deaths and stillbirth burials. It's a pleasant place but very sad because of the unmarked graves and the babies.

Hi. If you do find out, I'd be most grateful to know how you did it. My great aunt, Florence Stoneadge, who died in 1967, was there.
