First of all thank you for your Military service for the U.K.
A lovely person sent me some photos in January 2012. The graves are close to one of the buildings and there is a massive headstone & large box crypt like grave for Joseph & Ann.

I hope to make it to the U.K., Scotland & Ireland this next year 2014. I will look you up while in the area.

Hi Kirsten ( i assume that is your name from your e address)
I recently moved into Breedon on the Hill, and what a beutifull village it is. When i am at home i go to the church every day walking the dog and my route always takes me through the graveyard. At the moment i am in Afghanistan with the British Army but on my return, I go back for two weeks R&R in August and then for good in November, I will definitely have a look around for you, the Vicar may even have records on where the grave is. As i said i am away for the next few months but if i can be of any help on my return i will do my best to find them and get some photos for you.So Las Vegas? Wow, i didnt think anyone actually lived there, i thought it was just one big tourist place ( I jhave never been there) the only time i have been to USA was to go to disneyland with my children (quite a few years ago that was though!! Anyway hope this gets to you as i have just seen the post date, 2009!!!!
if you have found anything and want any more photos, work done on the grave etc, just let me know.
All the best

Nidge Jaxon

I have transcribed a list of graves of the 3 church graveyards in Wootton, Beds. If anyone would like a copy, please contact me with an e-mail address, and I'll attach a copy for you. The Parish registers were destroyed a few years ago (by burglars), so this information isn't easy to find!
Annesley Nottinghamshire

We are working on a project for the Annesley Old Church just outside Kirkby in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. The gravestones are wearing away, and a booklet done in 1985 was incomplete for some names and inscriptions. Although we are asking locally, perhaps some family history researchers have photographs from earlier that could help the project re-address the missing information. Some are still readable but the erosion and some building work in the 80's have damaged others. Also if anyone wants info please contact us.

I found this on the following website

http://www.hct.org.uk/chapels/yorkshire/farfield-friends-mee...

Farfield Friends Meeting House

Near Addingham, West Yorkshire | Listed Grade II*

History and Architecture
Anthony Myers, of Catgill near Bolton Abbey, provided land for a Quaker burial ground at Farfield in 1666. Three years later he gave an adjoining plot for the meeting house, which was built later that year. It is a simple single cell building with stone walls and mullioned windows. The roof is stone slated and supported by a single king post truss. Its floor is stone flagged. Apart from two loose benches, the only fitting is the oak minister's stand, of an unusual panelled design with turned balusters.

In the burial-ground is a row of five table-tombs commemorating the Myers family. These are rare features in a Quaker burial ground and provide evidence of a commemorative practice that the Quakers subsequently discouraged.

I could go and try & take some photos next month when I retire if you want

Jane,
Harrogate, N Yorkshire

Hope you don’t mind a minor correction. You said, “Royal Navy Admirals are ranked according to colour”, that should read were ranked; the system of organising the ships of the Fleet into squadrons identified by coloured flags, ended in 1864.

The White Ensign became the flag of the Royal Navy, the Blue Ensign the flag of ships belonging to the naval reserve and naval auxiliary forces and the Red Ensign became the flag of the Merchant Marine (awarded title Merchant Navy by King George V in recognition of WWI service).
Most probably Admiral of the Blue; Royal Navy Admirals are ranked according to colour. Could tell you the exact rank if I could see the whole desctiption; does it say Vice/Rear before the Admiral? Either way he was either the 3rd, 6th, or 9th highest ranked officer in the Royal Navy! Hope this helps.

The North Middlesex Family History Society in 1988 produced an index to the St Pancras MIs. It is cross-referenced to Cansick's Epitaphs of Middlesex (3 volumes). I am interested in the name Latchford and the index lists twelve references, all to Vol.3 pp.10-11. But they are not there where they should be.

I'd be very grateful if some kind soul could offer advice on this problem.

Mark

I am hoping the information will lead me to birth information about her son (my grandfather), Walter Alfred Knight, apparently born in Taunton, Somerset, England around December 1880.
