Hi Brendan,
Just spotted today your message re the Quoi family. I have had our family history for many years, done by my Aunt in 1945 app. I have been updating it, having joined the computer lot, a couple of years ago. I only today have been updating one my paternal sides, some of whom came from Ireland, and settled in Auckland.
Bella Ann Hyndman was born in August 1854 in Omagh, came to N.Z. with her brother John, firstly to look things over, before their parents , and the rest of the family arrived, about 1 year later.
Bella Ann Hyndman, married a Swedish sailor, whom we always knew about, however I found have found out since, that he was a sailor on the ship that they came out to N.Z. on in 1874.
Bella Ann Hyndman, married this sailor, Charles Jonson(formerly the Swedish version?) Charles and Bella Ann,had 3 children, Minnie(who died as a child), can not find any documentation of this, which does happen),Wilfred John Jonson, and Charles Alfred, who married Mary Letitia Jones in 1904, in Auckland. Charles and Mary Jonson, had at least 3 children. Marjorie Annie born 1904, Geoffrey Alfred born 1905, and Joy Rebecca born 1908.
Marjorie Annie Jonson married Edward Ernest Quoi in 1923. As I mentioned I only came across this today, as I have been doing different branches.
As to whether they had any family I do not know, as it is not on our BMD, and also they is know record of their death in N.Z. that I can find.
We have several of our wider family relations buried in Waikumete Cemetery, which is virtually around the corner from where we live. So when I have time, I will endeavour to get a photo for you, unless you already have managed to obtain one. I have not long ago bought a digital camera, for this purpose, I have only taken a couple as yet, so I will do my best.
Bella Annie Jonson, marriage to Charles Jonson, was a relatively short one, as Charles died when the youngest Wilfred was very small.
Bella later married in about 1889, to another Swede, named Charles Rolander, there were 3 more children to this marriage. Charles was killed in a tragic accident.
Bella lived for many many years, she died in January 26th 1948, ages 93 years.
Well, there you are Brendan, relations popping up everywhere, once you start this.
Well, cheerio for now, I will see if any other bits and pieces pop up, who knows!
Bye for now,
Regards Dale
