I live next to a cemetery that has no planning to the placement of the stones. They are tragically closely packed but randomly strewn about the site. It was originally the African-American cemetery and then the poor were also placed here. Unfortunately, these are likely the reason for the lack of planning, records or upkeep. While it was established in 1844, it is still being added to today despite any upkeep - the grounds are not kept up and many markers have been damaged. The cemetery is currently owned by a church. I would like to document the cemetery to preserve it as best as possible. I have planned to photograph and transcribe the markers but I feel this cemetery also needs to be mapped out.
Ultimately - Are there any suggestions for mapping this cemetery?
