I have Stewarts and MacNevin/McNevins in both Argyle Shore and Canoe Cove. I have found transcripts of Argyle Shore, but not of Canoe Cove. If you had any pictures of stones if would be wonderful. I wonder why I haven't run across this post long ago? Anyway if anyone has something I'd much appreciate it. Thanks

Agatha,

I went to school with your son Leif. We attend elementary school, junior high and high school together. He was an amazing guy, extremely bright and incredibly gifted. I think of him often, even now. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you were able to find the information you are looking for.

Kim

Hello,

My aunt, Carmen Louise Smith, is buried at a little church cemetery in Canoe Cove. Might you by chance have a photo of her headstone? She was buried in 1999, so not one of the ancient ones. It would probably be just a small marker.

Thanks!

Cheryl Elizabeth Quinn (Quinn/Smith Family Tree)

I have been searching John Gormley born 15 May 1851, husband of Margaret Percival Gormley, father of Katie Gormley, my grandmother. I found this info on the 1901 Canadian census. At that time he lived in district 136 of Charlottetown and sub-district A-2. This is all the information I have but I would appreciate more. I do have my Mother's baptismal from St. Dunstan's. It appears that there were four other children. I hope this helps.

Hello Evelyn,

Just saw your query today. I can confirm from a a partial transcript of the People's Cemetery, Charlottetown PEI:

Charles A. Stewart 1854 - 1933
w
Catherine McCallum 1852 - 1918

found on the best site for all things Prince Edward Island-

The Island Register

http://www.islandregister.com/

Should you need information on "any other history or family there" post your query on The Island Register Queries Page and you will likely get a response.

Good luck,

Margot Mann
My son died at the end of October 1997. At the time I was receiving cancer treatment and was unable to attend his wake and his funeral. This Summer I will be going to PEI and I would like to visit his grave site. All the information I know is that he is burried in Charlotte Town. His name was Leif Maydell and he was 18 years old at the time of his death. He was going to school and he had many friends there. Any help you can give me will be greatly appriciated. Many thanks.

Agathe Robinson

Notes from the Admin

To all who may be reading this, I welcome you. This is a brand new list and board, and like anything else new it may be a little slow in the beginning, but together I hope to share our information and enjoyment of genealogy as it relates to any cemeteries within the province. If you have anything to share, please post it here and let's see what was can get started.

As for me, my father was actually born in the Yukon, but most of my Cann ancestors were all over the maritime provinces with the largest concentrations in Nova Scotia. I have always been fascinated with the history of the area as well, particularly as it relates to genealogy.

This board is "gatewayed" to the list, which simply put means that any post here will automatically got to the list as well, biving you double exposure to your query. If rading this on the list, please use the link provided on the list post to take you to the board, and reply there rather than the list. Doing this will also send your reply not only to the list, but a copy will also be sent by e-mail directly to the original poster.

I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the future, and sharing our mutual enjoyment of family history. Let's see what we can get started here.

David
List & Board Admin
