Hello again Dayna;

I finally had a chance to drop into St. James Cemetery today, apologies for the delay. I spoke to the groundskeeper about an index; he said that detailed records were kept and can be accessed by contacting the following person:

Margaret Steele
204-837-1538
margaret_steele@shaw.ca

There may be a nominal fee for a search. She can provide you with a grid of where the headstone is. Since I was there anyways I took an hour to look around, with specific attention to the "baby" section. Unfortunately I didn't come with anything. Some of the markers are in fairly poor condition and hard to read, others have been vandalized as well. I was also looking for another name while there so this was also useful for me as well.

I am still willing to get a photo of a headstone if you contact the person above and get a precise location. Unfortunately I think simply walking around the cemetery will only provide a small chance of success. Let me know.

Cheers,
John

Note the headstone/marker reads 1890 vice 1689, my bad. If you wish. Also note in one of the photos there are red flowers in the background by a headstone. The last photo shows the headstone as viewed from the right side of the entrance gate, between pillars, in line with the flowers for reference. Again my apology for the mistake in dates.

Drove to Clandeboye this morning. Strangely I must have been guided because it only took a couple of minutes to locate. As mentioned, we still have a few inches if not feet of snow. I cleaned out the marker as best as I could by hand and the results are attached. In retrospect I should have let the marker dry out to better display the dates but they are visible.

ROBINSON
Beloved parents
William
1689 - 1953
and
Hilda (Petersen)
1914-1997
Ever Remembered Ever loved

Discussed with the minister and the guild and this headstone appears to be the only Robinson at Wakefield.

Cerneau

I am looking for any information on Zelena Cemetery located in the Mossey River District near Sifton, Manitoba. I beleive that a church was located nearby as the commemorative cairn has a Ukrainian Orthodox church inscribed on it. Former priests listed on this cairn are: Rev. M.J. Melnychuk, Rev. P.M. Mandzuik and Rev. G. Tursansky. I beleive that my mother's sister was buried in this cemetery c.1910. Thank you.

My grandma's mom's name was Harriet (Rattenbury) Worsley; infant's name was Eva, approx. death for both was Oct. 1906.

Harriet's in-laws & 2 bachelor brothers in-law also lived with them and am looking for records of death for them, George & Eliza Worsley, & William & Walter Worsley & also Harriet's husband James.

After Harriet's death, her husband James, his parents & 2 brothers, my grandma's older sister May (or Mae) and younger brother Gilbert all moved to Pretoria south of Durban. It was said shortly after that move that Eliza and James died, such tragedy in so short a time.

The Worsleys in Durban cemetary are the family of Gilbert & Pearl. And Stanley Clancy was my grandma Lillian's husband, it's his dad that is buried in Swan, James Havelock Clancy.

And I come from that union of Stanley and Lillian. They had 4 sons, my uncle John is buried in Durban and my dad is Don to which is his 82nd birthday today. We lived south east of Benito till 1979. Dad now lives in Sylvan Lake, Alta., my mom passed away in 2004 from long standing brain damage she sustained in a car accident in 1972 that killed Gilbert Worsleys daughter Marjorie, buried in Durban.

I appreciate your time and effort in helping me, thank you.

You can google Brookside Cemetery- Winnipeg. It will bring up the City of Winnipeg site and you can search their burial records by surname and it also gives you a map of the cemetery. My grandparents are buried there and they were from England.

Joan
Cemeteries are my hobby, and the one here especially. I have taken pictures of all (I hope!) of the headstones. I have also made a lsit of every person buried here (with assistance of the records at the Shell River Municipality. Not all the burials have headstones, nor were they all recorded) I just 'looked it up'. I am familiar with your Grandmother's headstone. Would you like me to send you a photo of it? My e-mail address is hansonb@mts.net.
Take care.
Barb
My grandmother is buried there (died 1914) and I'm trying to find the cemetery on a map with no luck. Checked the Brandon paper on June 27, 1912 the small obit is about the same info as the Winnipeg paper that is already above only that the funeral would be that afternoon. no location so I would guess it would be in Brandon as the date on the web site is correct.
